1265 The Oren Regular -Third Issue!- 7/27/2011 vsurestrike I wish I wasn't the one reporting this, sadly Kendrick is missing and Brian is ben ridden with wounds, so it falls to me to lay down a great tragedy before you. Our King lies slain at the hands of the Undead. How this befell us shall be written in the following paragraphs. There is no column today and only one article. Sorry, but there isn't much of a point of doing anything else. Friday's should see everything return to "Normal". Also if you don't know, today's paper is free of charge, to honor our fallen King. :: The Fall of a king :: The darkness of the night fell upon Al'Khazar, some noted that it has fallen ealier than usual, but not much was thought of it. Simple people went among their nightly rituals, window shopping on their way home, grabbing a bite to eat at the local tavern, everyday people carrying out everyday tasks. The routine lives if people that knew very little of war, their home's guarded by the mighty Oren Gaurd. This perfect life, the obliviousness to the outside world was about to be shatterd. The flash of lighting and the boom of thunder, calling cards of the undead, sounded to the north, many tossed this aside as nothing, then again and again it hammered down upon the Earth, the sound so intense that it did not allow normal conversations. Cries came from the Northern Gate, Whilst their message was long, only one word sank into the minds of the people that heard them,,, "Undead." ::The Northern gate was quickly pounced on and seized, the undead necromancers summoning hoards of there undead minions. The first of many giants then appeared in the area's square, it's lumbering footsteps shaking those who were not fully aware of the surrounding chaos out of their ignorance. A sea of undead creatures rode through the city from the north. The many attempts to stall or halt the advances were enveloped by the tidal wave of monsters. More giants joined the fray, their steps shaking the very roots of the city. Man, Dwarf and Elf lay slain in the streets, their bodies often surrounded by scores of mangled undead corpses that they had taken down with them. Now, we were not the only ones to suffer losses in this battle, the undead lost more than just front lune minins, a few necromancers were reported as having been slain, however of those reports we can never be sure since the undead take their dead with them. The necromancers had the nerve however, to use the great golden star a top the chrch as a place to summon their dark magics from. :: The defenders slowly becamed scattered and only small pockets held out. The keep became Al'Khazar's final stronghold. The Undead pushed their way up the steps and a pitched battle raged in front of the doors that led to the keep. Here is where we found our king, locking swords with one of the leaders of the Undead. The Wandering Wizard was also reported to have been near the battle, slaying an Overlord. In the chaos of battle, not everything was certain, but when the dust cleared, another Undead Overlord lay slain and our King lay dead. We had dealt a stinging blow to the Undead, at the cost of our King. His death was as least honorable, he died among the people of his city, fighting to the last. After the drive on the Keep was forced back, the Undead once again vanished into the night, leaving their minions to torment us. :: Cleaning up the city lasted many nights, the remaining Undead had to be purged from the streets. Missions into the sewers were not uncommon, the mindless zombies seeking shelter from the sun's glare. The surviving guard tried to keep order as those left alive remained to lick their wounds. A group of guards went to the North to explore what they believed to be the source of these vile undead, they returned refused to comment. The Seneschal took power after the king's death and took this opportunity to start remodeling the city. The Temple District, having received the most damage, is now under a complete overhaul and a new Keep will be constructed. It shows that Edmund plans to be very active whilst he rules.
