1354 Ancient Elven Folklore Vol. I Cloudheart The Story of the Drow - (and Moonlamp Mountain) :: ::In a land far far away, from the homes of the fair folk called Elves, there lives a race of people called the Drow. The Drow were Elves too, but they had strayed from the lovely forests to dark magics. The Drow preferred the shadows that matched the blackness of their magic, and they lived in the marshes, swamps, and spider-infested forests of Aegis. Few know of this land anymore, and even fewer still know its name. It is now only known as 'The Darklands'. :: ::The Drow, however, disliked one thing about their home: they had no light to see by. The lightstones of the true Elves were lost to them. Thus, the Drow every so often would take the moon to use as a lamp, putting it away in a dark mountain, hidden in their muggy swamps. This is why they say if you ever lose track of the moon one night the Drow have stolen it. :: ::They would only give the moon back on one condition: If someone cut down a tree from the Elven homeland and gave it to them. If you didn't do this? Oh Aegis forbid! The Drow would sneak into Malinor - in the blackness of night - to find the naughtiest, unruliest elf and...SNATCH HIM UP! The elf would then work for their army, to live in their horrible, spidery forests, forevermore. :: ::So be good, all little Elven children, or one night the Drow might take a liking to you and you might never again see the beautiful trees of Laurelin. :: :: The End
