1527 The Return of the Archmage edronos Day 1 :: :: Hwaldar has found me again, speaking of troubles concerning the Guild. He mentioned the voidwalker, Whisperer. According to him, they are good friends, and Whisperer even proved useful as of late. Apparently, Hwaldar has been tricked out of his position, having to appoint Everard as Archmage in his place, things safe for Hwaldar. :: He desires to usurp the Arcane Mage. :: When I asked what he needed, he said one thing: You are my new apprentice. :: I met him in the Tower, confused but nonetheless intrigued. He claimed influence over Guild matters, despite his recent expulsion, and while the invitation to apprenticeship honor s me and magic is the stuff of dreams, I have no aspirations for magehood. If I did, I believe this invitation would only serve to disappoint. Regardless, I let the curious mage speak. :: He began by speaking to Golems and other such creatures touched or hitherto wrought by magics. Immediately, my mind shifted to Whisperer, the voidwalker, who has created quite the stir as of late. Hwaldar continued, professing on the magics of "entity creation", with which entire beings can be born of the mind. :: The conversation consistantly shifted to Whisperer from then on. Apparently, the voidwalker is one such "mind-man", possibly born insane and sent to the Void through use of unstable and young understood magic. Since then, Whisperer has returned, disoritented and furious. Then, Hwaldar touched on how to destroy one such entity. :: Earlier on in the conversation, Hwaldar spoke of "bursts" that occur when unstable materials are used in entity creation. These bursts can affect the magician or the environment, but the results are always undesirable. Something similar can be used to "overload" a mind-man, who does not fear physical force. Apparently, any repeated use of magic upon one such entity, the ethereal voidwalker, will cause the creature to burst themselves, as they absorb all magics they come in contact with. :: It's curious that the mage would reveal to me exactly how to destroy one such as Whisperer , whom he claims to be a close friend. It remains to be seen what Hwaldar is trying to get at. He's made it quite clear that he has a scheme bubbling beneath his hood. How I fit into those plans, and what he intends for the Guild, I am not sure.
