1952 The Spirit of the Aengul - A Ship's History _Earendil_ In The First Seed of a year not far past the beginning of the 14th century, the world of Aegis beheld the grand opening of the Ascended Haven to pure members of the descendant races. Those elves, dwarves, humans and orcs dedicated and able bodied enough to journey the White Road for many days would be rewarded with the sight of :: However it was not long before the great Sages of the Haven realized that the journey to their lands was a long and sometimes treacherous one, especially for those who were no longer young or well equipped for travel. :: It was thus that the Sages decided that they would open travel by the sea between their lands and those of the descended races. While fully capable of constructing a seaworthy vessle themselves, the Ascended wished to welcome the descended races more warmly on a ship crafted by an outsider - an elf, dwarf, human or orc. :: This is how myself, Earendil the Elf of Malinor, was comissioned as a well known sea farer and a building apprentice to construct The Spirit of the Aengul. :: The process began with the gathering of the finest redwood logs the great forests of Malinor had to offer, and crafting them in the center of Laurelin into the sturdiest, most sea worthy planks across the land. :: With the help of my fellow elven assistants we floated the planks and our tools along the waterways to the harbour of the Haven. :: The great trees needed to build the frame, masts, and boom of the ship were harvested next from nearby lands, and construction began. :: For several months myself, Earendil, worked tirelessly on the ship, building the sturdiest of vessels that lacked no attention to detail. From the cargo hold up to the quarter deck each plank was sealed to ensure the Spirit of the Aengul would withstand any storm gods of Aegis could send into the sea. :: Upon completion, Ascended and descended races alike marvelled upon the ship, and it was known that the Elves had not lost the mastery of the sea that first brought them to the modern lands of Aegis many centuries ago. :: The Spirit of the Aengul is not the largest of battleships or the swiftest of scouts, but a reliable boat built to withstand countless passenger journeys to and from the Haven, and still fast enough to outrun any pirate or greater evil that sails the seas. :: Standing tall and proud, the Spirit of the Aengul is sure to sail for many ages to come, as long as the Ascended will inhabit the lands to ensure freedom and equality among all races.
