2035 Whidoc's Journal braner321 ((Back story: Son of the Halfling, Biodoc Goodbody, Whidoc is an eager lad with a yearing for knowledge. Back in his original home of the port town, Nepo, Whidoc spent many hours tinkering with many things. He also had a collection of books that sadley he had to leave back in Nepo. This journal is a recolection of things that have happened to Whidoc. The journal starts with Whidoc sitting on the ship, ready to leave for Aegis. )) :: Day 1 ((really Day -4)): Well, this is it. Good bye Port-Town of Nepo. I will miss you dearly. Today I set off for the land of Aegis. The land where my father has settled in. He sent me a letter a few days ago requesting that now is the time for me to move from our home in Nepo to his new home in a Halfling village called Dunwood. He speaks well of it and it's Ale. He says that there are many friendly people there. He tells me that the Elders of Dunwood have agreed to my arival and that I shall be welcomed in as one of the villagers right away. My father also told me in his letter that the land of Aegis is full of much Magic. Magic. The word just makes me wonder of what I may come to encounter with my arival....Oh, orc brains ((Nepodian swear)) the Captain is requesting that all passengers assist up deck. Well, I guess this cheap ride had to have some catch. :: Day 2: No time to write, I must continue working. The seas are rough. Rougher then any storm that has ever gone through Nepo. :: Day 3: Food...Not a morsale has been seen since the first day. Cheap buggars are trying to kill us I swear. *drawing of a nice, hot porkchop and a glass of frosty ale* :: Day 4: The Captain, that buggar. He was hording all the food for himself. A mutiny occured and was resolved with the dismisal of the Captain....Forcefully. He was tied to the mast. A new Captain has taken his place. He gave us what was rightfully ours. I ate so much! Then again, when don't I. I have done more thinking of the Magic that was mentioned...One of the stories in my father's letter was of A Great Wandering Wizard. He said that he was odd...But more powerful then any being in Aegis. *Drawing of a robed figure looking at the moon on a grassy hill* :: Day 5 ((First day in the lands of Aegis)): I arrived in the port of the human city, Al'Khazar. It was a very busy port. I stopped at a bakery owned by a lady by the name of Dawn. I had an apple and a porkchop. I also had a mug of her ale. It tasted very sweet. I liked it, when I get the chance I'll have to have some more another time. The next item on my agenda was to find me father. He said to meet him at the King's Cross in the city. I found it pretty fast. Many people were there conversing. I waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually a man by the name of Tom Proudfoot came into the City shouting. He was shouting about something, I couldn't hear him well so I got closer. If only I had known....*tear drops stain the page* I aproached closer to learn that...that...a bandit had killed my father...His body was found on the side of the King's Road. He had many stab wounds, his pockets empty and his fists clentched and bruised on the knuckles. I assume that meant that he died punching the bandit who probobly had armor on.... Not even a day in Aegis, and my own father was murdered...Some great place to live. After identifying the body as my father's, I went to the bar and drank...and drank...and drank. The ale burned my throat by the time I was done and my eyes hurt from the tears. I bumped into Tom who I then asked, drunk and all, where my father had his house. He lead my to Dunwood. Here, I found my father's house. It was lovely. I could tell that if he hadn't died that I would be happy here. I found my father's room. I cried myself to sleep in his bed. :: Day 6: I woke up today to the sound of my stomach growling. I checked the pantry, but found no food. I then searched my father's chest and found an old, battered, short ((right size for a halfling)) sword. I then went out to get breakfast. While killing the many pigs the littered the land, I noticed an odd looking pig. He looked sickly, so I was going to put him out of his misery. I made a grave mistake. Little did I know that the "sickly" pig was a decaying Pig Man of some sort. I was greeted by the slaughtering of this pig by many others like him. I was never so scared in my life. So I ran. I managed to kill a few that were close. But I still decided on running. I ran inside my father's, I mean, my house....feels odd saying that... I grabbed a set of iron armor that was a little big on me. Probobly big on my father too. I put it on and killed the rest of the decaying Pig Men that had followed me to Dunwood. I then saw another Halfling. I followed him into town, forgetting I had my armor on. He turned around and started screaming ghost. I ran after him, scared out of my breeches upon thinking there was a ghost behind me. He then turned around and started sayying that it couldn't be and that Biodoc was dead...stupid me. I then took my helmet off to reveal that I was not Biodoc. I introduced myself to him. He said his name was Petyr. The lad my father spoke so much of in his letters. At that moment an elderly Halfling came over. His name was Orlin, he said. I introduced myself to him. He then told me that he was the Bishop of Dunwood and that he could show me my father's grave site. We stopped at my house and I grabbed a few, personal belongings of my father's that I thought should be buried with him. I brought some roses, his favorite pipe and his favorite hoe. I layed these thing on his grave and payed my respects. I then entered the Catherdral . It was very...halflingish. And by that I mean it was in a hill. Anayways, I then talked to Orlin about my father's services. We settled on a few things and left it there. On my way home, therewere more decaying Pig Men. I killed them, but it made me notice something... That killing is not something a halfling should be doing. It's in-humane. I then took a vow to never kill anything human-like again, unless provoked. And seeing as I am a patient Halfling, that's hard to do. I then went to Al'Khazar. There, I bought an odd looking and feeling staff. I then brought it home and started to study it. I have deemed it from some of my father's notes on something similar, to be a Magic staff. It's interesting...it intrigues me very much so. Following that I went and saw my father's grave once again. :: Day 7: Today I had a regular breakfast of apples, bacon and toast. I decided to walk the King's Road today. No bandits. However, I did stumble upon a man who was tending to an orchard. I handed him an apple he dropped. That made me feel beter. I then continued to the Temple of Aegis. There I met up with a lady named Freya. I went with her and an elf, to Laurelin. There, the elf showed us the archives. I had no time to study them for I had to return to Al'Khazar. I went back down along the King's Road. In the city, I had a nice steak and an ale. I then went to the King's Cross and saw Freya and others. There, all of us had much fun. The most fun I've had in this land....I went home after that and went to bed. Dead tired. :: Day 8: Today, I spent much time in peaceful Dunwood. But, around late afternoon, I went to Al'Khazar. There, I was going to comute to Laurelin. I was going to spend the rest of the day in the archives. On my way there, I ran into a robed fellow who had overheard my reason for leaving the city, when I told the guard at the gate. I simply told him that I was going to Laurelin to study the archives. I told him of my curiosity in Magic. He told me to let him read my journal sometime, should I be interested in Magic. He seemed like an educated fellow. Maybe some day I may let him read this. Maybe in return, we could share notes sometime. I might be able to learn something new...Oh, how I love knowledge. In the Archives, I found only one thing of notice. A book on the creation of Laurelin. I scribbled a few notes and returned to Dunwood. It was late now. So I must rest. :: Day 9: I started today with a little farm work. I could only manage to do one of the smaller fields. The physical strength to do all that work was tough. I'd rather just stick to my book work next time... Seeing as there is no room in the storage hut..I have taken it upon myself to keep the wheat until I am instructed what to do with it. For now, I will use some to make lunch for today. Magnificent! Wonderful! Outstanding! The fellow who asked about my research bumped into me while in Al'Khazar today! I remembered his name...Cataris of the Mages Guild. We took a walk to a hidden library of his. I learned so much from it. I am very thankful for being able to have such a pleasure. He is a good man, that Cataris he is! As a thank-you to him, I gave 'im some good old Halfling wheat. I'm sure he will enjoy it. For now, I will go to bed. What a day.... :: Day 10: I left the town today early in the morn. I spent the day in Al'Khazar. Torwards the late afternoon, a guard named William came into the town today with his group. He had been cut by an undead blade. Nobody had a clue what to do, so I decided to be the Hero . I took him to the church and wash out the cut with Holy Water. That must have helped because the pain disapeared. I then soaked a rag in the water and dressed his wound with it. Helping him made me feel very good. Especially since I be no Doctor. I shall remeber his name , William of the Oren Guard. I only hope that his bravery to continue to fight the undead presses on.
