2046 Desert Star Ranovak The sandstone ruin that looms over today's Serpent's Ridge once served higher purposes than a tower. It was known as the Desert Star, a research center, homing ancient Elven technology and innovations . :: In its earlier years, it served the purpose of a "Safe Haven" for Elven scientist and druids. The land, once a lush rainforest, became a mere desert, corrupted by the experiments in the tower. The elves adapted to the new environment, as they were banished from the forest. They were known as the Desert Elves, or Sandkin, as they evolved into something less Elven. The secrets they brought upon the lands created dry, forsaken soil. So forsaken, so unforgiving, taht the land eventually turned on its creators. The exact fate of the Sandkin is unknown, but it is believed an enormous sandstorm swallowed them. :: After many years of silence, the Desert Star became once again active. An explorer found the Desert Star, finding many of its parts to be sealed off, while some remained. It was located it the harshest parts of the desert, Ground Zero of its creation. The explorer decided to make the Desert Star into something important, something useful. He made it a Haven for explorers, safe from the toxic environment, and he enchanted it with glowing powers, so the travelers would be guided toward it. :: After the days of the Desert had past, and the Desert Star became all but forgotten, the desert began to dissolve under the influence of the Druids of Laurelin. Now it is but a forgotten relic in the middle of a lush forest, a cemetary of old, forbidden technologies, which were sealed by ancient, unbreakable magic.
