2192 Magic: A Human Perspective, Darnius Olophin dyldo The forces of nature have always fascinated mankind. The way in which some objects get pulled down to the Earth, the effects of momentum, the chemical forces involved in flames... All these forces and more, are mostly still a mystery to us. However, there is one force that is the most mystifying. :: This is the force of magic, which only returned to our lands recently. :: Magic is essentially a short cut to doing seemingly impossible things. Fireballs coming from your hands, healing energies, lightning strikes at your command... All these are seemingly designed for the use of sentient beings to use. However, where does magic come from? Why do so few posess the ability? :: It is in this in depth study that I seek to learn the truth behind the most strange aspect of our world. I say it is strange, for everyone finds it so. :: Which leads to an interesting question. If it is a natural occurence, then why does magical ability occur so little in any race? Why does it seem so strange? Why do we non-magic users find spells wondrous and amazing even after being exposed to spellcasters for quite some time, over many generations? :: It is possible that our amazment is an instinctive reaction against dark mages. It could be a racial memory of a wizard who wished to impress, and did not succeed, causing an evolutionary pressure on the people around him to be awed, i.e. he would kill them. :: However, this study will not tar all mages with the brush of being evil. There are many prominent mages in our society, such as the famous Avalier, the Wandering Mage . Or Bell, current Guild Leader of the new Mage's Guild until further notice.
