2196 Chronicals of a Dead Man darkdladety People say dead men tell no tales. Well, I guess that's why I am writing this. To prove to myself that I am still alive. In my final act of life, I write down this story. :: It all happened in an instant. They poured out of the woods, silent as night itself. We spotted them before they got to close. This is what we had prepared for. I got the weapons and tools, and she got food and supplies. We were ready to defend our house with our lives. Thats when everything went to hell. :: One must have gotten past us and into the house. The roof we stood on fell in. With most of the house gone, they poored in. I put arrows into all of them. Creepers disintegrating before they hit the ground, skeletons being blasted apart by my spray of arrows. But there were to many and they slowly advanced on us. She was completely unconscious, so I dragged her into our escape tunnel in the back of the house. :: I whipped around and put an arrow through the tnt above the passage entrance. I pulled her down the tunnel as far as i could. She had a large wound in the center of her forehead. I took bandages and a pork chop out of her bag. I fixed her up as best I could, but she wouldn't last long. I gathered all my strength and put her on my shoulders. After what seemed like hours of walking, we arrived at the mouth of the tunnel. :: The sun had just come up, and in the distance I could see smoke rising from the ruins of our house. I knew we could never go back, but I didn't know where we could go. :: I did the only thing I could do, I walked. After a day of walking, we came upon a house. I walked over to the door and collapsed. I layed there, with no will to move. Someone opened the door, but I couldn't see who it was, because I blacked out. :: I woke up, and it was light out, and an I was on a bed. I looked over and saw her, laying on the bed, pale white. I looked around but no one was in the house. I ran to her side and tried to get her to wake up. Then it hit me. I collapsed to the floor sobbing, then I blacked out agian. I woke up once again, this time at night. I tried to get up but I found that I was restrained. :: Looking around I saw a man in the corner. "Hay, what happened." I yelled. "Well," he said, "You showed up with your friend over there in quite bad shape. I fixed you up, but I am afraid I couldn't save her." I struggled with the restraints. "Oh yes, you smashed your head when you got out of bed so I had to restrain you. Sorry" He untied the rope and I got up. I had a raging pain in my head but I forced myself to focus. I asked the man if I could go out for a few minutes and he said yes. :: I grabbed my bow and quiver. I walked through the forest, and I was myself again. Cows, pigs, sheep, even chickens fell when two arrows pierced their skulls. While I was hunting, everything melted away, the pain, the fear, everything. I was at peace once again. I reach for another arrow but found my quiver empty and that night was coming so I returned to the house. :: I handed the old man some pork and he cooked it for me. That night we eat mushroom soup and pork in silence. In the moring I got up early and made my way to the door. The old man grabbed my shoulder and said, " Kid, you're going back to the place where this happened to you, I can see it in your eyes." I turned to him, looked him stait in the eyes and said "I have to end this, I am doing it for her, goodbye, forever." And with that I grabbed my fallen compainon and headed out the door. I made my way all the way back to our ruined house. :: While it was still day a dug a grave for her, layed her in it and covered her. Placing a single rose to make the grave. With the rest of the day I built a small wall where I would make my final stand. "There." I said to myself, it's done. I armed my bow and waited. :: Then they came, just like before. This time I cut them down as they emerged from the woods. I was holding them off until I began to run out of arrows. I grab my sword and ran into the center of them, cuting down any monster I saw. They slowly pushed me back to the ruined house. Once again they flooded the house, but this time there was no exit. :: Most of them were dead. I was almost dead. I thought I killed them all when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. It stood there staring at me with its always saddening face. I ran over to it and slashed it with my sword and it fell. I turned and walked away when I realized it didn't disintegrate. I turned just in time to see it go off. :: Thats it. I fell to the ground, my legs no longer working. I saw a book in the ruble near me. It was a book that she was writing for me. In it I wrote this book. :: With that my story ends. I... I... can see the light now. I am coming home Lilly, I am come back to you, Charles is coming home.
