3214 History of the Cal'ek Warband II Slayer15855 History of the Cal'ek Warband :: After the Beginning :: :: :: :: -Transcribed by the Arcane Mage- :: We had vast portions of Oren on our side before it was all said and done. A priest named Seth who operated a fort along the kings road, aiding travellers. My dear friend and tavern owner, James Arkensald, who owned an Inn along the kings road and also aided travellers in need. The current king, Edmund, though I find it likely it was he who ratted out the Coup, as it benefitted him most. The King's diplomat who I ended up having to threaten to kill his dear friend Banok if he did not help us. This was only due to such circumstances, as the King's advisor held in his power to convince the elves to help us, or to simply stand aside. The King's diplomat who I ended up having to threaten to kill his dear friend Banok if he did not help us. This was only due to such circumstances, as the King's advisor held in his power to convince the elves to help us, or to simply stand aside. :: :: The elf council and high prince at that time were very supportive of the Warband and its goals, and I knew if the advisor spoke in favor of our cause, they would support the coup, giving us overwhelming power, and with it, the ability for a blood less victory. I also had over half of the Oren guard at that time as well as the Guard captain in support of the coup. The rest of the guard I did not ask, as they were driven by the kings greed and nothing else. I had several other people in favor of the coup, willing to fight for us. Ranging from black smiths, to shop owners, to various business owners and hunters, to even dwarven guards and elfish soldiers. :: :: The coup was ready. Our forces were amassed, the plan ready, the Cal'ek Base moved to a long house in the east, all there was to do was to explain the plan to our masses and then to promptly take over Al'Khazar from the inside and to march upon the king, and to take the throne. But, I was called away. I was informed by another traveling member of my native Orc Band that our Chieftan had fallen gravely Ill, and so I made the march back to see him, and to aid our clan in any way I could. He died several days after I arrived, his illness contracted from zombie bites in a recent battle. After mourning, I set off back to Al'Khazar, ready to take the throne and to use the Guard to rid the land of Aegis of the fiends. :: The Trials of the Warband: :: :: But we had been ratted out. I returned to find all of the Coups members either in disarray, hiding, or for several, dead. We also did not have the support of the elves, and as such, the Coup fell apart. We were labeled as enemies of Oren by King Pampo, our log house burnt to the ground, and our supplies stolen. All the surviving members of the Cal'ek Warband went into hiding. And so we stayed for several months. :: :: With only Relyt, Ares, and Ogland by my side, rebuilding in secret was difficult. We did not have the man power we needed, and while most of Oren's citizens welcomed us with open arms as they supported our cause at the time, we still had to be vigilant. The King had his portion of the guard on high alert, ready to imprison or kill any of they found. :: Rebuilding: :: :: After months in the wild, debating reforming under a new name and banner to hide our past, and trying to rebuild at three new locations, I travelled forth with a new recruit, Urack the Dwarf, and we set out to find a new location, hopefully the permanent home of our base, and as such, The Cal'ek, as we decided we would not back down, but rather, stand tall and proud of what we had done. We traveled far and wide, searching all over for a place to call our own before finally we found it. But finally, we did. :: :: It was a vast, untouched plateau, with access to the top from only two locations at the time. We quickly set to work, chopping down tree's, digging out roots, filling in the many pockets of land and caves that menaced the surface, and removing a thick layer of soil from the top so that we had a flat surface to begin construction. :: :: With in a week, all of the tree's had been cleared and the ground leveled. Within a month, the first bits of stone began being laid for the walls and towers. And with in several years(Time system hadn't been implemented when we began, but judging from how time currently goes, I'd say about 8 years prior, and its year 13 now, so, 21 years?), the fortress's defenses had been vastly completed. Well enough to hold off any threat the Cal'ek faced, at least. :: We have labeled all those who cause pain and anguish our enemies. The Fiends, Bandits, The Undead, Corrupt leaders, cultists. Any who actively bring death, destruction, and fear to Aegis, we shall wage an endless war upon, until they are no more. A Cal'ek may be mortal, but the Warband is Immortal. One may fall, but another even more powerful shall take his place. :: :: And that's how we got to where we are now. Our crops are flourishing, our walls stand strong, our soldiers powerful, our supplies complete and our bellies full. Through everything except the nether and back we've been, and through it all, we stand powerful. We are the Cal'ek, we are Righteous, and we are One. :: :: :: Written by the Arcane Mage: :: And so their past ends, but it is not the end as some may suspect. Although the Warband has seen its trials it still exists today. :: We may never know the outcome of their effort. But perhaps there is still some to see...
