The second son born of Horen, founder of men, was Impaar who towered above his brothers in size and in pride. He took to him to wed a daughter of Krug, and he loved her truly. Following the banishment of Iblees, Impaar departed from Aegis in search of other lands that he might build a city of his own, with might comparable to his father's. In the hope that he could flee Iblees' curse by leaving Aegis, Impaar never returned to his father's house. Whether he lived forever or simply died of old age, just as the men of Oren, remains unknown. But his children grew tall and taller still and the descendants of Impaar became known as Ents or 'giant', for they were tall and mighty like oak trees and their skin thick like leather.
