The Oren Guards

In my various encounters with the Oren guards I have been arrested 16 times. Twice I have been very nearly executed. My crimes have ranged from entering through the docks, wearing dark robes, harassment, resisting arrest, assaulting guards, drunkeness, verbal abuse of guards, indecent exposure, general disrespect, disturbing the peace, traveling the rooftops, destroying property, causing unrest, attacking royaltly, trespassing, praising Iblees, and other assorted crimes. Most of this I have done in disguise, but when wearing my robes, most guards recognize me. :: I've come to several conclusions about the guards. They're a fairly selfish, petty bunch. They applied to their posts out of a need to rule others. I dislike most of them. They're sadistic and have caused me a good deal of trouble. Including quite a bit of minas, but I've avoided that in many cases by merely serving a term in their jail. :: They tend to be fairly incompetent in capturing prisoners. They simply don't know their way around the city. It's easy to elude them by dint of escaping to the rooftops or the sewers. It seems like there is no training process. I tend to regret it when I do meet one who can handle himself, because they travel in groups. It's hard to evade five armored guards even when you are highly competent. :: I'm not quite sure why I antogonize the guards so. I think I enjoy it because it's entertaining. I like hearing their shouts as I dash across the roof of Dawn's bakery. And I don't want to conform to their silly rules. I should not be arrested just because of my attire. Nor should I be arrested because of my wanting to explore the city. ::    You see, I spent much of my childhood here. I was a beggar. And when others were not generous enough to give, I took. In most cases I was never noticed. When I was noticed, I usually made it away before a guard showed up. But when I was unlucky enough to attempt to pickpocket a guard, or stumble while escaping, I would be captured. I was merely a nuisance - to them, I wasn't even worth jailing. I would be beaten or otherwise abused. :: I hope you can see how this turned me against them. :: Even now, I do not have the power to resist. But should I come into that power... I will exact my revenge on the guards. And then some.
