6816 Alchemy Vol. I- Components and Reagents silco97 ::Forward :: :: ::Chapter 1 ::Components of Alchemy :: ::Every proper alchemst needs their proper set of tools in order to master the trade one must first acquire the following materials: :: ::Brewing Stand ::This is one of the most important component to become a successful alchemist. The brewing stand although is quite a pricy thing to make. In order to craft such a rare piece of equipment you must retrieve a magical blaze rod found only in the nether. Now this of course may lead to the question, is it worth it? Well my dear reader it is indeed worth it. This blaze rod can be found from the fire spirits that reside in the ruins there. You must then attach 3 bits of cobble along the bottom of it in order to harbor the bottles. When placing bottles in it, it can hold up to three, you must then place the ingredients in it and wait as the materials mix with the water. Once the ingredients are done mixing you may remove the bottles. :: :: Cauldron ::This is a necessity for those who want to make their potions in bulk. A simple cauldron can be used for a number of things other than cooking. You must place a bucket of water in it, it can then be used as a trip of tree refills of water for just your bottles and such. The crafting process it not near as costly as the brewing stand one must simply smelt a bit of iron in the shape of a hours shoe. :: :: Bottles Glass ::These are what make an alchemist. They must fill up these bottles with water. preferable with the cauldron, and place them in the brewing stand to begin making and mixing your compounds. When you might find handy is that when you are brewing only on ingredient is needed to fill all three bottles if all three are in the slots of the brewing stand :: :: ::Chapter 2 ::Base Reagents :: ::These are often the most common although the most importent for making your base potions. Although most of them have no immediate effect when brewed, when mixing them with other potions it can create the more powerful potions that every alchemist strives for. :: ::Fermented Spider Eye ::This is quite a simple thing to make. One must simple obtain a fresh spider, suger, and a brown mushroom. Mix these together with a mortar and pestle [[crafting table]] and you will have your fermented spider eye. It should appear brown in color and a bit dry or mushy. The basic effects if this ingredient most commonly used for potions are lesson positive effects and induces negative effects. :: ::Glowstone Dust ::A common material often found in no longer used glowstone. It has a powdery texture and gives offthe faintest light. The effects found in glowstone dust that are used in potions are increase potion effects, and decrease potion duration. :: ::Nether Wort ::An unfortunately rare material to come by despite its use in alchemy. Nearly every potion needs this in the porcess of making it at some point or another. It comes from the ground for the nether wort mushroom that grows best in soulsand. It has a glossy red pungent appearrance and oder. :: ::Redstone Dust ::A most common material that has a number of uses. Its shiny red appearence and its strange ability to conduct energy gives it an array of possible uses such as decrease effects, and increase potion duration. This can be found while mining best when you are in a cave, although redstone foten signals lava. :: ::Gun Powder ::This rare material comes from the deepest depths of earth in dungoens guarded by undead. Its black powdery texture and seemingly explosive behavior allows it to be used in the most useful "splash potions", which will be told more about later :: ::Chapter 3 ::Effecting Reagents ::These reagents tale use of nether wort the most. Althougn nether wort when brewed creates a rather useless clear blue potion it can be used and mixed with these reagents to make more useful potions. :: ::Blaze Powder ::This rather rare material can only be found from the extracted oils of a blaze rod which are used to craft brewing stands. They can only be found in the bowls of the flame spirits in the nether. Simply grind the rod and you will have a healthy supply of powder. It appears in a red orange color with an almost creme like texture. Its most common effects unsed in potions are strength. :: ::Ghast Tear ::The small clear and valuable ghast tear. with crystal like sheen and seem to weigh nothing at all it can only be found in the tear ducts of a dead ghast. They seem to cry for long periods of time, although killing a ghast is another story. It's sought after power when brewed is regeneration. :: ::Glistering Melon ::An expenzive melon created when you near a bit of gold to it. It gives it a shiny almost ::metallic sheen and also has the effect of instent health regeneration. :: ::Magma cream ::In the same correlation with the blaze powder. Simpley mix together blaze powder and a ball of slime from the strange organisms that live in caves. The cream is of the same consistecny of slime although it takes on a red orange color of the powder. Although one must be careful, it is said to burn to the touch. Its effects in a potion are resistance to fire. :: ::Spider Eye ::Foud in the eye socket of your common spider. Often purple in color and and in a number of sizes depending in which you retrieved it from. You want to take the eye ball its self as well as the long cords that are attached to it for both are importent. The effects used in potions are poisoning. :: ::Suger ::A common household reagent although you will find a number of other uses for it besides cooking cakes and tarts.
