6841 An Attack on Al'Khazar everblue2er101 The following battle was witnessed first hand by myself, Josef Timothee, as it occured over several days in The Deep Cold, 1334. :: I awoke from a long sleep in my basement room in the VonSchlichten Inn outside of Al'Khazar and immediately felt the floor shake. I jumped up and ran outside to see lightning falling onto the capital of Oren. I ran back to my room and grabbed iron armour, an iron sword, bow, many arrows and porkchops, while placing everything else away safely. With that done, I entered Al'Khazar. :: The city was in a state of utter chaos. Lightning continued to strike everywhere, hitting buildings, starting fires and burning those who were struck. The defenders of the city were a mix of all races. The enemies were also varied - I did not see any Undead with my own eyes, but the monsters were seemingly unlimited. Immediately, I was attacked by a swarm of small creatures, all on fire. There were also dead corpses and bones reanimated by Iblees dark power, along with giant spiders and those strange Pigmen. The tall black men were there in droves, and it was one of these that very nearly killed me. The most feared enemy were the 'Ghasts', which I saw for the first time. I battled for a long time, using my sword when it was easy to do so but attacking the Ghasts and Pigmen with arrows. :: Undead supporters taunted everyone else, claiming that Iblees would take over the city and all of Aegis. Their cries were drowned out by those fighting the Undead. Then, a miracle. Aeriel spoke, saying that she would help in the battle. With that, the tide turned, and the monsters started to recede. It seemed that the battle was won and Al'Khazar was saved... I was, at this point, standing at the Al'Khazar bank, where I had been shooting Ghasts and slaying zombies. Then I heard shouting from the Keep. :: I ran up to the great structure to a horrible sight. The guard tower on the Keep had been transformed into a hideous creation with lava pouring from it. in the Keep, the situation was even worse. Undead had barricaded themselves into the throne room and defaced the throne. From there, they mocked us, stating that Iblees would prevail. They unleashed more Ghasts and lightning outside, then vanished. :: The Keep was searched and found empty. The city was damaged and there was great loss of life, but Al'Khazar was saved. In her final words, Aeriel said that this had gone on long enough. It was time, she declared, to enter the Nether and destroy the Undead once and for all. :: My part in the battle was small. I struck down monsters with bow and blade, and joined those calling out in support of Aeriel. I swear that this account is true to the best of my knowledge.
